Haemon first emerged when Creon was deciding Antigone's fate. Haemon begged and pleaded for Creon to spare Antigone's life; as a result the situation exploded into a heated argument between the two, causing a break in their relationship.
Creon eventually decided to imprison Antigone in an underground cave. During her incarceration, Antigone hanged herself; Haemon later saw her corpse, and he killed himself as well in response. The prospect distressed Eurydice, and she committed suicide shortly after learning of their deaths.
