Corinth was city-state in Greece. King Oedipus was raised here by its king and queen, Polybus and Merope. One day at a banquet in Corinth, a drunk man had accused Oedipus of not being his father's son. To confirm this Oedipus sought the oracle at Delphi, where it was revealed that he will kill his father and marry his mother. Distraught, Oedipus fled Corinth forever, in hopes of preventing such an atrocity. Later, Polybus dies of unknown causes.
