The Chorus in The Oedipus Cycle consists of a group of old men who follow the narration of the story. Their leader, Choragos, often interacts with the characters. The Chorus often creates lyrical sections throughout the plays, transitioning between one and the other.

During the beginning of Oedipus at Colonus, a chorus of men appears to warn Oedipus that he was trespassing the holy grounds of the Furies at Colonus. They learn of Oedipus's plight and start to sympathize with him. Later, when Creon came to threaten Oedipus and his daughters, the chorus called for help to alert Theseus, king of Athens.
